Policy Structure 

Property Coverages 

  • Coverage A – Dwelling on the residence premises, excludes land.  Insured for the replacement cost of the structure.
  • Coverage B – Other Structures which would include detached garage, shed, pool, pool house, satellite dish, etc.  This coverage is 10% of coverage A.
  • Coverage C- Personal Property owned or used by the insured anywhere in the world and property of others on residence premises.  This coverage is 50% of coverage A.
  • Coverage D- Loss of Use from part of residence where insured lives.  This Coverage provides additional living expenses and/or a necessary increase in living expenses for a normal standard of living due to being displaced as a result of a claim.  This coverage is 20% of coverage A. 

Liability Coverages 

  •  Coverage E – Personal Liability bodily injury and property damage caused by a covered occurrence for which insured is legally liable.  Provides defense costs in addition to liability limits.  This coverage $100,000 minimum.
  •  Coverage F – Medical Payments which are incurred as a result of injury at residence by anyone who was on location with permission of insured, other than resident relative. This coverage $1000 minimum.

Replacement Cost Insurance provides protection which pays the cost to restore or replace damaged or destroyed property without deduction for depreciation.  Automatically included. 

Deductible amount is first subtracted from the total damage incurred before determining the insurance company’s liability.  Typically the minimum $1000.  Other windstorm deductibles can apply. 

Scheduled personal property is an endorsement to a homeowners policy allowing the insured to schedule both the coverage and the value on specific items.  Additional premium would apply based on the limits of covered items.
